ITS was positioned at the heart of public transport at the opening ceremony “The limits between transport, city and digital technology become blurred for traditional actors of transport who increasingly becoming operators of mobility” said the keynote speaker Mr Bruno Marzloff, Sociologist (author of the book ‘Mobility, fluid tracks’), Groupe Chronos, France. Mr Marzloff went on to summarise his proposed emphasis on technologies by saying “Intelligences do not only have digital and immaterial ends. The role of ITS in the public transport efficiency, security and the quality of service to the end-users was covered by a number of speakers during the congress. Mr Alain Flausch, UITP President at the closing ceremony said “Marketing, new technologies and a strong business culture: these are the very basic ingredients which I think we need to inject with more strength in our (public transport) sector”
