  JOIN-MED workshop in Amman
EU-Mediterranean ICT Research Workshop in Jordan

The Jordanian Royal Scientific Society hosted the JOIN-MED workshop in Amman 5-7 December 2009. The workshop provided a good understanding of the FP7 European Commission research calls and provided an excellent networking event between a broad range of academic and research institutions including ITS-Arab.

JOIN-MED is itself an FP7 (Seventh Framework Programme) funded project with an objective to create a sustainable network of ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) research organisations in the Mediterranean Partner Countries (MPC) and Europe, reinforcing the Research Cooperation between these two regions on a wider scale.

FP7 is the European Union's main instrument for funding research in Europe and it will run from 2007-2013. FP7 is also designed to respond to Europe's employment needs, competitiveness and quality of life

ICT plays a crucial role in boosting innovation, creativity and competitiveness of all industry and service sectors. ICT includes a wide range of applications including healthcare provision, Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), as well as innovative interactive systems for entertainment and learning.

MPC members include Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Jordon, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. For further information, please visit JOIN-MED website on http://www.join-med.eu/
