Dubai Tram trials begin
29 January 2014:

Dubai: Dubai Tram began its trial run on Sunday, starting from Al Sufouh Depot for a distance of 2.5km. A batch of 11 trains arrived in Dubai last month, and the trial began following a month-long technical testing inside the depot. The trial runs will continue daily and will expand their reach in three phases over the next few months.

Dubai: New traffic signs will be introduced on Dubai roads soon as the Roads and Transport Authority prepares for the launch of the Dubai Tram later this year. Most of the new road signs are related to the tram and railway, while a few are for speed breakers and pedestrian crossings.

Dubai: The much awaited Al Sufouh Tram project is on track to open in November 2014 with the first test run of the carriages completed successfully and 62 per cent of the construction work finished, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Tuesday.

Dubai: The first of eight tram train sets expected for the first phase of the Sufouh Tram project will arrive in Dubai on December 11 from a manufacturing facility in France, said Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman and Executive Director of Roads and Transport Authority, yesterday (Saturday).
